New Final Fantasy Dissidia Screenshots
September 28th, 2008Details on Final Fantasy XIII Agito [PSP]
September 28th, 2008Well so far not a lot has been mentioned regarding Final Fantasy XIII Agito which will be released on the Sony PSP as a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII compilation. Agito is not a sidestory to Final Fantasy XIII, rather it is part of one story which will have shared themes and mythos around which all of the Final Fantasy XIII games will be based on. Agito is Latin for “to put in motion.”
The battle system will handle much like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, but the difference is that it will make use of the ATB system and allow control of multiple characters. Summoned creatures will be under player control similarly to how they are in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII.
SquareEnix was going to release Final Fantasy XIII Agito to mobile phones after the success of Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis. This was changed and they later decided to develop Agito for the Sony PSP. I think this is a much better move! Better graphics, better sound, bigger screen.
FFXIII Interview: Development Progress Update
September 22nd, 2008Thanks to our forum member Shuyu, we have some scans from the latest issue of Official Playstation Magazine Australia which contains an interview with compilation developers Yoshinori Kitase and Shinji Hashimoto.
In the interview they reassure Playstation 3 owners that their version of Final Fantasy XIII hasn’t been delayed at all and that the Xbox 360 version won’t even be started until the PS3 release is burned to Blu-ray. As well as that, Kitase has given an update on the progress of development stating that the Scenario for Final Fantasy XIII is complete and the Artistic Side is 80% complete. Cloud Voted 2nd Most Popular Gaming Character In Japan
September 21st, 2008Oricon Monitor Research have conducted a survey over 1000 individuals to decide who is the most popular gaming character in Japan. The group covered all demographics, with people chose from multiple ages groups, and each gender being equally represented.
The character that came first is hardly surprising (Mario), but Cloud managed to coming in second place - beating both Yoshi, Solid Snake and Slime.
The Chocobo was actually the second highest representative from the Final Fantasy franchise, finishing seventh.
Square Enix Have Their Offer Rejected
September 21st, 2008When Yoicha Wada proudly announced that Square Enix had been in talks with Tecmo about a takeover for a while, he made it seem like it was a done deal. Unfortunately, the new Tecmo president Yasuharu Kakihara didn’t agree.
Square Enix made an offer of $200m for Tecmo, but they have decided to reject the offer and will turn down any more advances that come from Square Enix. Instead, they have decided to pursue a prospective merger with Koei, the creators of the ever popular Dynasty Warriors franchise.
Square Enix will be bitterly disappointed with this news, as they were hoping to gain more of a foothold in the western market. It looks like they will have to try something else though.
Final Fantasy XIII demo
August 26th, 2008Well it looks like the demo for Final Fantasy 13 is going to be a nice lengthy one to keep gamers happy. According to the upcoming DKS3713 issue of Famitsu magazine, the Final Fantasy XIII demo will contain a longer running time than the CGI film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, the re-release version that will be out later this year. The original release of Advent Children clocks a runtime of 101mins. The upcoming Blu-ray version of the movie will feature deleted scenes and ones that weren’t finished in time.
The Final Fantasy XIII demo will be based on the beginning of the game. It will come on a separate disc rather than on the Advent Children Complete Blu-ray disc.
